Penny, a decorated 29-year veteran who had the title of Sergeant Major at the time of her retirement, managed an Operations and Training Section that oversaw 54 military units (approximately 3,500 soldiers) in the Military Logistics Branch. She has a diverse set of qualifications - she trained at the Army's Suicide Prevention Ask, Care and Escort (ACE) program; served with the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) post-military career; attended and graduated from the Service Officer Training Program mandated by the Veterans Benefits Administration to obtain her accreditation as a National Service Advocate with expertise to work on behalf of the three Pillars of the Veterans Administration. Penny has developed and evaluated training plans/periods of instruction (POI). She has also taught mandated classes yearly, such as Suicide Prevention, Information Security, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Uniform Code of Military Justice, and sexual abuse/domestic violence awareness/prevention, as well as other mandated courses required by the Department of the Army.
